Established in October 2006 with funding from the Mary H Rice Foundation, CORE Community Resources’ mission is to help seniors, defined as over age 55, stay independent, active and valued members of their community. Our service area includes communities in the northern part of Bayfield County, including Washburn, Bayfield, Red Cliff, Cornucopia, and the surrounding area. Services are offered free of charge because of generous donors and financial support from foundations.
CORE is governed by a Board of Directors who represent the geographic area served. This is a working board with committed individuals who support CORE with active participation on committees, planning special events, and contributions. CORE and Encore have a 5 person staff--an executive director, program coordinator, food distribution coordinator, store manager, and assistant manager.
Encore Resale Store provides financial support for approximately 50% of our operating costs. The balance comes from grants, individuals, and foundations.
