Thomas Murtha is a writer and editor. He has served as a director and helped lead fund-raising efforts on several non-profit boards, including The Bakken Trio Chamber Music Consortium (lifetime director), the Minnesota Fund for the Arts, Madeline Island Chamber Music, Chicago Opera Theater, and the Industry Studies Association. Currently he serves on the board of advisors for the University of Minnesota English Department. He was managing director and co-founder of Stratametrics, Inc., survey researchers and consultants to global corporate leaders, and a professor of international business strategy at the Universities of Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois (Chicago), St. Thomas (Minnesota) as well as Michigan State University. In 2002 Stanford University Press published his co-authored book with Stefanie Ann Lenway, Managing New Industry Creation. Other writing has appeared in magazines such as Rolling Stone and the Minneapolis Star Tribune, academic journals such as the Journal of Law Economics and Organization and Strategic Management Journal and in poetry journals such as Mudfish and Ariel. Tom has lived in Bayfield since 2017.
