Susan Hedman is a Bayfield resident who enjoys kayaking and wandering along the shore of Lake Superior. She is a visiting scholar at the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and the Law School at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Susan also volunteers as an attorney and board member for several nonprofit organizations. Over the course of a long career devoted to environmental protection, she was appointed by President Barack Obama as head of the US EPA Great Lakes Regional Office and served as an attorney in the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, at the United Nations, and for many environmental groups. Susan holds a PhD from the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, an MA from the La Follette School of Public Affairs, and a JD from the Law School at the University of Wisconsin.
